Photographs and postcards collected in an album by Orin B. (known as "O. B.") Coldwell, operating engineer for the Portland Railway, Light & Power Company and later vice president of the Portland Electric Power Company. The images date from 1910-1937 and depict the lumber industry, dams, power companies, and people associated with electric power across the United States and abroad. Subjects include dams such as the Grand Coulee dam in Washington state, the Sweetwater dam in southern California, and other dams in California, Ohio, and on the Mississippi River; dam construction in Sydney, Australia; the Union Gas and Steam Company in Cincinnati, Oh.; electricity production in the laboratory of the Ohio Insulator Company in Barberton, Oh.; and Portland General Electric Company, among other subjects. Some of the photographs were also taken by O. B. Coldwell. Includes panoramic photographs.
